A Study of the Book of Hebrews
The language Jesus spoke was Hebrew. Outside of Jerusalem the Jewish people spoke mainly Greek. The Hebrew language died out just after the destruction of the Temple in AD 70. In Jesus time Hebrew was both the daily language and the language of study.
The language was revived in 1880 when one Eliezer Ben Yehuda brought his young wife to Israel and insisted that they speak nothing but Hebrew…today it is the language of the street…
